Clinical Supervision and Mentorship
For Clinicians Who Give A Damn
For social workers seeking supervision that centers values, honors culture, and helps you thrive in a system that wasn’t built for you.

This Isn’t Just Supervision—
It’s Clinical Mentorship with Heart
Hi, I’m Monica.
Let’s be real—clinical supervision shouldn’t feel like just another hoop to jump through.
It should feel like mentorship. Like a space where you don’t have to pretend you’ve got it all figured out. A space where your questions, your doubts, and even your messy moments are welcomed—not judged.
I believe the best supervision is rooted in curiosity, not perfection.
In growth, not performance.
In you, not just your productivity.
As a clinical supervisor and mentor, I’m here to help you develop the skills, insight, and clarity to become the clinician you’re meant to be—without sacrificing your values or your soul in the process.
We’ll talk case consults, sure—but we’ll also talk about:
your emotional reactions
your identity
the broken systems you’re working within
and how to navigate all of it with courage and care
I bring a decolonizing, anti-oppressive lens to everything we do.
That means we’ll unpack how traditional Western clinical frameworks often pathologize human experience—especially when they ignore culture, history, and systemic harm. We’ll explore what it means to practice in a way that:
centers your values
honors your clients’ full humanity
and holds space for liberation—even when the system doesn’t.
Supervision with me is a space where you’ll be held, challenged, and deeply seen.
Because you deserve support that’s just as layered, thoughtful, and human as the work you’re doing out there in the world.

Who I Am
(and What It’s Like to Work With Me)
I’m not the kind of supervisor who expects you to check your humanity at the door.
If you're looking for a more detached, top-down style of supervision, I'm not her.
But if you want to dig deep, grow boldly, and reflect with someone who’s in the work with you? Let’s go.
I’ve spent over a decade working in social services and mental health, walking alongside folks navigating trauma, systemic oppression, and identity work.
My roots are in social work, and I carry that lens into everything I do—including clinical supervision.
That means we’ll talk about therapeutic models, yes—but also:
power
privilege
identity
and the systems that shape our clients’ lives and our own
I supervise through a relational, trauma-conscious, anti-oppressive lens.
I don’t believe in “blank slate” detachment, and I don’t think good supervision comes from pretending I have all the answers.
I show up in the room as a full human—with curiosity, compassion, and the belief that this relationship can be a space of mutual growth and reflection.
You’re not just learning from me—we’re learning from each other. Every time.
I work best with supervisees who are:
introspective
values-driven
unafraid to wrestle with the big questions
Whether you're still defining your clinical voice or already feeling the pull toward liberation-centered practice, this space is designed to support your evolution—not mold you into a one-size-fits-all clinician.
Supervision with me isn’t about checking boxes—it’s about becoming the clinician you actually want to be.
To help you grow with clarity and integrity, I bring real-world experience that’s been shaped by over a decade of deep, hands-on work across multiple systems.

The Work That Shapes My Supervision
Before I stepped into private practice, I spent over a decade supporting individuals and families navigating some of the most complex and under-resourced systems—foster care, public education, end-of-life care, youth residential treatment, homelessness, and the criminalization of poverty.
I’ve worked in group homes, schools, client homes, and clinical spaces that often felt more institutional than healing.
These experiences deeply inform how I supervise,
because I know firsthand the tension between what you’re taught and what actually works in practice.
Rooted in Practice, Grounded in Systems
-
Over 10 years of experience providing assessment, counseling, family support, and clinical consultation for young people navigating family separation, trauma, and complex needs.
-
7 years as a school social worker providing brief therapy, suicide risk assessments, parent coaching, grief response, and advocacy for underserved students in Pre-K through transition-aged youth.
-
Managed a residential hospice and recuperative care program for unhoused adults with HIV/AIDS—offering care coordination, grief support, end-of-life care, and crisis response in deeply under-resourced conditions.
-
Since 2019, I’ve supported BIPOC and LGBTQ+ adults—many of whom are adult children of immigrants—navigating relational trauma, people-pleasing, and identity reclamation through EMDR, Parts Work, Polyvagal Theory, and culturally attuned care.
I’m EMDR-trained (with advanced coursework), IFS-informed, and certified in the Trauma-Conscious Yoga Method. I’m also deeply engaged in continued education around justice- and liberation-centered care, including Chicanx psychology, anti-diet work, advocating for LGBTQ+ rights and ethical care, and anti-racism.
In addition to clinical training, I’ve invested extensively in continuing education around marketing and strategy for private practice therapists, and I’ve led trainings and CE opportunities across multiple settings.
I bring all of this with me into our work together—
not just as credentials, but as lived context for the challenges you’re facing as a new clinician.
All of this professional experience shapes how I show up in the room—but supervision isn’t just about what I’ve done. It’s about how we apply it to what you’re navigating right now. The real magic happens when we take lived experience, clinical insight, and your own intuition—and turn it into meaningful, liberatory practice.
Becoming the Clinician You're Meant to Be
Where Supervision Meets Praxis
Supervision with me is collaborative, relational, and rooted in curiosity—not perfection. You’ll bring your questions, cases, and stuck points. I’ll bring reflection, real-world perspective, and mentorship that’s grounded in practice, not just theory.
What We’ll Explore Together:
Case Conceptualization with a Critical Lens
We'll break down what's happening in session—behaviorally, emotionally, and systemically—so you can learn to see your clients’ stories with clarity and compassion.
Practicing Cultural Humility & Anti-Oppressive Care
We’ll talk honestly about identity, power, and positionality—and how to show up for clients in a way that’s liberatory, not just “competent.”
Ethics, Nuance, and the “It Depends” Moments
We’ll talk through the sticky stuff—dual relationships, documentation, consent, and more—so you feel confident handling the gray areas with integrity.
Boundaries Without Guilt
Together, we’ll explore how to set boundaries in ways that are ethical, sustainable, and in alignment with your values—even when it feels hard.
Building Toward Private Practice (If That’s Your Path)
We’ll work through the practical, emotional, and ethical prep it takes to start your own practice—from defining your niche to building a referral network, without losing your soul to Instagram™ hustle culture.
Exploring Countertransference Without Shame
Your reactions are part of the work. We’ll slow it down, name what’s happening, and use those moments for insight and growth.
Developing Your Professional Identity
You don’t have to mold yourself into someone else’s clinical style. This is about discovering who you are as a therapist and owning your presence in the room.
Burnout Prevention & System Navigation
Let’s name the systems that make this work so damn hard—and then talk about how to keep yourself grounded, healthy, and in it for the long game.
Bridging the Gap Between Theory and Practice
All those models and interventions you learned in school? We’ll talk about how to actually use them with real clients in real time.
